Ferris Bench
Description
The Ferris bench seat is made from ancient reclaimed New Zealand swamp kauri wood. The wood has been carbon dated at over 40,000 years old.
This sustainable timber, naturally felled by nature, is preserved for thousands of years under peat sediment layers before they are extracted and continue their journey to become a cherished piece of art.
We celebrate the natural wabi-sabi effect of the ancient timber. Prehistoric kauri trees were buried under a peat swamp by an unexplained act of nature at the end of the last Ice Age, the trees have survived the centuries underground, sealed in an airtight environment that has preserved the timber in perfect condition.
The Ferris bench seat is finished with hand rubbed, low V.O.C., natural plant oils to bring the grain to life. The legs are made from raw steel.
Handmade in Christchurch, New Zealand.
